Baguio Dream Come True

After 25 years of yearning and waiting, my feet finally stride out in the beautiful land of Baguio. My dream of going there is now come to its conclusion.

Aside of being known as Summer Capital of the Philippines Baguio is also renowned as City of Pines, City of Mines, and Garden City of the Philippines and ukay-ukay capital of the Philippines. The City’s main attraction is its natural bounties of cool climate, foggy hills, lovely flowers, panoramic vistas, its pine forests and generally clean environs.

The day began at 5 a.m., when the bus arrived after seven hours of travel at the Bus Terminal of Victory Liner in Baguio City. We look for a place to stay on that’s how we brought ourselves to King’s Court Pension House. After fixing our things at the hotel it’s time to start the adventure. No time to waste.

The first spot we visited is the bell church. We travel by foot going to the temple so we much appreciated the beauty of Baguio. After almost 2 hours of walking in the hillock road of Baguio we finally arrived at the church. It’s a relief seeing the temple. The stillness of the place gives you peacefulness.

6 KM away from Bell Church is the Strawberry Farm. We go to the farm to pick some fruits but unfortunately it’s off peak season of strawberries and only few bushes bear fruit.

After Strawberry Farm, we make our mind up to go back to our Hotel to rest and recharged our body. After all it’s been a long walk.

By 1 P.M., it’s time to kick off ahead, but before that we took our lunch first to revitalize our energy that we had lost. Lourdes Grotto is just a 20 to 30 minutes away from plaza. This is my favorite tourist spot at Baguio because of its serenity. I don’t remember exactly how many steps we need to take before we can offer candles and prayers to the lady of Lourdes but its approximately 252 steps above the ground.

Of course, we also walk around at Burnham Park. Whose tourists who ever forgot to walk at Burnham Park? We even hire boat so we can row around at the man-made lagoon.

The next day, we went to PMA. We also visited their Church, the Relics Point and of course we watched the formation of PMA Cadets.

Baguio City Hall, City Hall Park, Rizal Park, Camp John Hay, Mines View Park, Wright Park, The Mansion, People’s Park, Sunshine Park, UP Baguio, Convention Center, Museum, Orchidarium, City Public Market and SM were also visited. No need to give further details about. We just simply enjoyed every landmark and took lots of pictures. We also took coffee break at Starbucks, chatted for hours, then go back to the hotel and rested.

In our last day with Baguio, we attended the mass at Baguio Cathedral to offer prayers and seek blessings for our safe travel going back to Manila. Attending the mass in Baguio Cathedral is very unusual. The songs are sung in their own native language. There are also native dances before the mass and offerings and after the mass has ended.

Traveling to Baguio City is not much different from visiting other cities in the Philippines in that all the modern conveniences are available as Baguio is an urban center that just happens to be set in a beautiful natural landscape.

To Baguio without Love: Malamig nga sa Baguio!

I never thought how really cold in Baguio.  Since then I really want to go there but I am glad that I made it in reality.  This day is special date for me, a date of realizing one of my dreams at the same time, celebrating my first monthsarry of having special someone.  It was really cold that day.  I almost chill.  Then I realized, do I chill because of the climate or because I am longing for YOU?  Now you’re gone, will I make feel the warmth of your love?  Will I always feel the Baguio?

This is how really cold to have nothing besides you, especially on our especial date. This is what I can say, “It was cold indeed in Baguio!”
