Another Step…

It’s been Wondeful year of Experiences and Struggles.

I’ve met a lot of Persons who broadened my Wisdom.

I Love the way it had been…

After a year where I cried under the Unfamiliar Tree in an isolated area,

Lots of never been unexpected things.

I learned a lot, now, it’s another step forward.

As I bid farewell…

Re-posting for my dearly friends in Rainmaker..

As I bid farewell…

I was never a man of hate or pain
I never wanted to see people cry
I always had a way with words
and could see the world through their eyes

I want you all to remember me
As though I have never left
Remembering they way I made you feel
Or the way I made you laugh

So don’t you dare shed a tear
Don’t you dare forget what I’ve done
Because everyone here today
Deserves to have some fun

I have fond memories of everyone
And the things that I hold near
But the things I will miss the most
Are my friends I hold so dear…

No Quick Fix

Tomorrow, August 11 I’ll be turning 28; at this state I should already adult in every aspects of our life. Some people at this age already have family and already settled. Know the things they want and know how to fix their problems.

Just recently, I looked back at the pages of my blog and journals I wrote before during a short, difficult journey in my life, and I was struck by the way how I handle my problems specially those heart-felt struggles.

“What is my problem? Constantly searching…constantly confused. I know God has a plan, all I have to do is trust Him…but it seems I’m incapable of that (not trusting God but incapable of waiting). Why is it, that although I know what my problems are, I still fail? Time and time again I stumble. I keep on going along and screwing up my life, complicating things. It’s like I’m in a constant state of stupid or really I’m just stupid after all. Why? Is it lack of faith? Will Power? Character? I know that it all boils down to that fact that I’m a sinner…but there has to be something more specific. Something I can work on, train myself away from. What is it? I’m so sick of myself.”

Looking back those times I just laughed to myself and thinking how stupid I am.

It’s not always clear to us at first His purpose in our lives until stumble and see the bigger picture. In fact, sometimes we simply can’t make sense of the things we go through, or the pain we cause ourselves. Sometimes we may wonder why—no matter how hard we may try—we cannot fix ourselves. But this is not really the question we should be asking. Trying to answer that question can leave us up burned out, emotionally drained, or even disenchanted with our loving God.

This is how I will celebrate my birthday and keeping promise to myself that next time I’ll be more wiser (need to cross the word more since I am not wise before LOL) Shalom!!!

Philippines New President and Vice President:Aquino & Binay

The Filipino people have already spoken the Republic of the Philippines has now new President and Vice President.

Exactly after 30 days from the first Philippine Automated Elections last May 10, 2010 Senator Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay Sr. is now proclaimed today June 9, 2010 after the Joint Session of the Senate and Congress as Philippine President and Vice President respectively.

President Noynoy Aquino will be seated in the Malacañang for six (6) years starting July 1, 2010 until June 30, 2016 (unless there are uncertainties in the future that may change the Philippine Government) same with Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Our responsibility has not ended after we cast our votes in the last May 10 elections it’s also our responsibilities to watch as our newly elected officials do their duties as mandated by our Constitution.

President Powers and duties:

The President id the head of state and government of the Republic of the Philippines. The executive power is vested alone in the Philippines President. Also, the president heads the Executive branch of the government, which includes the Cabinet and all executive departments.

The President is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. As such, he/she can call out such armed forces to prevent or suppress lawless violence, invasion or rebellion, when the public safety requires it, he or she may, for a period not exceeding sixty (60) days, suspend the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus (legal instrument safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary state action) or place the Philippines or any part thereof under Martial Law or State of Emergency.

Also, the President has the power to grant reprieves, commutations, and pardons.

The President also responsible in appointing members of the Constitutional Commission, Ambassadors, other public minister and consuls, officers of the AFP from the rank of colonel or naval captain, and other officers as vested by the Philippine Constitution.

The President also appoint the members of Supreme Court including the Chief Justice.

Vice President:

Vice President is the second highest executive official of our government. Vice President is the first in the presidential line of succession. The Vice President also becomes the new President upon the death, resignation, or removal by impeachment and subsequent conviction of the President. The Vice President of the Philippines has no official responsibility other than those given by the incumbent President of the Philippines. The tradition is for the Vice President to be given the highest-ranking cabinet portfolio.

The Next President: Benigno Simeon Aquino III

Filipinos already cast their votes in their first ever Automated Election despite the glitches of some PCOS (Precinct Count Optical Scan) Machine, the election turns good in general and now the counting of votes almost complete (around 90% of Election Returns has been counted) and leading by almost five million votes Sen Benigno Simeon Aguino III will be the next President, our 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines.

Who is Noynoy?

The only son of former Sen Benigno Aquino and President Corazon Aquino, Philippine’s Democracy Icon,  was born on February 8, 1960, attended in Ateneo de Manila University and earned a degree in Economics in 1981. Brother of Kris Aquino a Philippine Celebrity.

As the politics is in their blood line, Noynoy continued the tradition of his parents and  forebears. He serves as representative for the second district of  Tarlac, their home province, from 1998 to 2007 before he became Senator in 2007 Senatorial Race.

With the limelight of his mother’s death (due to Colon cancer) and with outpouring of support of his family and friends Noynoy announced his intention to seek the nation’s highest post.

Nation’s Future

Noynoy Aquino promised in his campaign Transformational Leadership, Gender Equality, Economy Agenda, Peace and Order, Good Governance and safety of our environment.

  • Transformational Leadership – from a President who tolerates corruption to a President who is the nation’s first and most determined fighter of corruption.
  • Economy Agenda – from government policies influenced by well-connected private interests to a leadership that execute all the laws of the land with impartiality and decisiveness, recognizing farms and rural enterprises (is this include the Land sharing of Hacienda Luisita?)
  • Good Governance – discerning selection of cabinets based on integrity, competence and performance serving the public good, professional, motivated and energized bureaucracies with  adequate means to perform their public service missions.
  • Gender equality – promotion of equal gender opportunity in all spheres of public policies and programs. (Is Gender equality is needed or Gender Equity?  Gender Equality means that women and men enjoy the same status and conditions and have equal opportunity for realizing their potential to contribute to the political, economic, social and cultural development of their countries. Gender Equity moves beyond a focus on equal treatment. It means giving to those who have less on the basis of needs, and taking steps to compensate for historical and social disadvantages that prevent women and men from otherwise operating on a level playing field. Equity can be understood as the means, and equality is the end. Equity leads to equality. What about the member of LGBT Society?  Can they have their Gender Equality?
  • Peace and Order – from a disjointed, short-sighted Mindanao policy that merely reacts to events and incidents to one that seeks a broadly-supported just peace and will redress decades of neglect of the Moro and other peoples of Mindanao. (What about the Media Killing, the Maguindanao massacre and the desaparcidos?)
  • Environment

The Question is did Noynoy has the confidence that he has what it takes to fulfill these promises. Speeches come easy, very handy indeed but we need action We are at the dawn of new administration and the most natural feeling for many is optimism. . Let us give Noynoy the chance to give us the bright future that our nation needed. We as ordinary citizens have task to watch and react. Let us see his first 100 days  as this is crucial in setting directions for the country.

Tales and Tips: Anawangin Escapade

There are places where are stories begin.

This is my third entry for my Travel Adventure Blog. Our Adventure get-away to the Island or more appropriately, Cove of Anawangin in Zambales with our very own “GI” short for “Geographical Idiot”.

Anawangin Zambales is very knew to our knowledge. Where it is located? What we can see in Anawangin? How we can go there? These are some  frequently asked questions when we heard Anawangin. Though Anawangin is very knew for some of us but it’s have lots to offer. Just type Anawangin in any search engine via Internet and they will gave you hundreds of results.

Anawangin has pristine white sand beach

What to love about Anawangin:

There are lots to love about Anawangin.

First, is the Virginity of the Cove. This is a very remote area until campers discover it.  There are no direct route going to the Cove. The only fastest means of going to the cove (or maybe you can try trekking the mountain range from Pundaquit to Anawangin) is via boat ride. Virgin in the sense that no resort(s) built around the cove preserving the pine trees laced around the vicinity which added to the beauty of Anawangin. Being virgin or remote means no private toilet (only deep well can be used for taking a bath after swimming), no fluppy soft bed to lie in and other  perks that hotel can offer because on the first place Anawangin has no source of electricity, and of course the ultimate, no mobile signal.

Second to offer is the Beach itself. White Sand, Cool Water, Jelly free and shallow depth sea level even though you don’t know how to swim you will definitely enjoy the beach. There’s a sign of “biglang Lalim” in the shoreline but as far as I concerned there’s no biglang lalim in the beach but we still exercise caution since the beach is still virgin and we don’t know any history of the beach. Since there’s no resort in the cove no other water activities to enjoy about, no banana boat, water skiing, jet ski and the likes but that’s not a hindrance to enjoy the water.

Just behind the beach is the pine forest and a marsh, where you can find natural springs feeding to the sea. Good for photography and relaxation. You can also climb the nearby mountain and catch a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the Anawangin cove and its neighboring beaches.

How to get there:

It’s a 4 to 5 hours travel going north from Manila to Zambales.

If via Bus, took a bus from Manila to San Antonio Zambales (or via Olongapo and then to San Antonio Zambales). From San Antonio take a tricycle going to Pundaquit (which 15 to 20 minutes ride) and from there took a boat for 25 to 30 minutes ride going to Anawangin Cove.

What to Bring:

Drinking Water, Food (you may buy fish and rice at the public market in San Antonio before going to pundaquit there’s a store in the cove but of course the price is much higher in the market), Mosquito Skin Repellant and Flashlight and also Tent (if your going to stay overnight) and of course the Digital Camera.

Everywhere and anywhere there’s a danger nearby waiting to attack us. Also in Anawangin there can also be a danger. Everybody should understood  that Anawangin is a virgin beach, unmonitored and untouched. It’s not a commercial destination, no lifeguards, no signal. This is the very reason that everyone would want to go to Anawangin (or to any similar beach with similar conditions) should exercise extreme caution.

From the Ashes…

It’s the end of something new officially…

Watching you walk out of my life does not make me bitter or cynical about love but rather makes me realize that if I wanted to be with the wrong person how beautiful it will be when the right one comes along.

Thanks for all those people that helps me, for their support, for their time, for their ears, for their advices and now for their shoulders to cry on. As I always says everytime I failed

From the ashes of Failure will build the Empire of Success.

Now that I have loved so deeply and purely, I have realized how lonely I really am. Some people think that it’s holding on that makes one strong, sometimes its letting go.

2009: Voice from the Past

It’s just 2 hours before the year 2009 comes to a close, and I thought how has this year changed me and the country? How different I am now, compared to the same time last year. What are the events in 2009 that greatly impacted us? Who are the key people that we met that contributed to my growth?

As I prepare to say hello to 2010 and before we say goodbye to 2009. Let’s recall our memories for “The Good and “The Bad” that 2009 brings to our life.

In General:

October: Ondoy hit Manila and Pepe hit North Luzon. Hundreds of lives killed, thousands of houses and millions of properties were lost but amidst of disasters that brings to our lives we’re still surviving.

December: As year ending approaches, Mayon Volcano is on peak of its eruption.

No months in Particular:

Recession hits our economy

Former President Cory Aquino dies

Ampatuan Massacre followed by Martial Law Declaration in Zamboanga

And lots of things happened in 2009 fro showbizness, economics, political and to our society.

In my Personal:

January: New work, new company. I started new work in new company in new and different industry. Manage to stay until now amidst lots of problems in work, employer and officemate relationship, and of course personal problems to the level that I submitted my resignation letter. Hope next year would be a great year for the company, all benefits that was cancelled will resume, higher salary. Next year would be a difficult year for me; I am now giving way to my love life. I’m now trying to balance now work and love life. I know that this is not easy thing but I have full confidence that God will help me to guide me in the right direction, gime me light in times of darkness, protection in times of storm and faith in times of doubt.

To all my friends, thanks for the unwavering support, for backing me up and for the friendship.

August: Celebrated another year of life. I’ll put to God my anchor and let him direct me towards to his plan. Lots of minor gifts were unwrapped.

December: One major present unwrapped for me. You really never knew what God planned for us. It’s a matter of patience. Thanks also to my lucky 50.

What’s the present? It’s a heart. God gave it to me this year during the Christmas season a special gift from God. “Last Christmas I gave you my heart but the very next day you gave it away this year to save me from tears I gave it to someone special” sounds familiar? Yeah, you heard it right this year God save me from tears, he gave my heart a special beat, beat that only heart knows.

An answered prayer.

Well, it’s time for us to say goodbye to 2009 and say hello to 2010. Whatever 2010 may bring to us let’s embrace it wholeheartedly God is always watching us let’s have faith with Him.

Simbang Gabi: 2nd & 3rd Day

Last night is my second day of my Simbang Gabi and I’ll attend the mass at St. John Bosco church in Makati. The mass started as soon as the clock hit 8. We sing entrance song, the first reading from the book of Genesis that praises Judah, read the responsorial psalm, and then to Daily Gospel.

We sing hallelujah and the Mass Presider read the Gospel, when he is already in the middle of his reading he pause for a while (maybe about two or three minutes) and then finish it. I thought that’s why he pause in reading because he can’t find the next page or he’s catching his breath, but definitely there’s something wrong because his pause is too long and when he started his homily I confirmed what the problem is, He’s reading the December 18 Gospel (MT 1:18-25) for Simbang Gabi because the pamphlet he’s holding is for December 18 Mass. The supposed to be Gospel is from Matthew chapter 1 verses 1 to 17 that says about the genealogy of Jesus Christ, from Abraham down to Jesus Christ. Fourteen Generations from Abraham to David, fourteen generations from David to the Babylonia Exile, and fourteen generations from Babylonia exile to the Messiah.

But the Priest perfectly explained the Gospel he read, it is about how courageous and obedient Joseph is. He perfectly inculcated to our mind the gospel. Though it’s kind of advance and I wonder what would be the homily today and also what supposed to be his homily that time.

But why write a genealogy of Jesus?

I found this in the net, its answer the above question and I quote

“In the Old Testament, there are two main purposes of genealogies: (1) on the literary level, a genealogy marks the end of the story a generation and the beginning of a new one. On the theological level, it is to legitimate belongingness – who does and who does not belong to the chosen people of Israel.

In short, in the genealogy of Jesus read during this Simbang Gabi, we can meditate on two things: (1) Jesus as the new beginning — as Israel’s hope as well as our hope; (2) Jesus as part of God’s promise to Israel in the past — the basis of our hope. When we think then of Christmas, we do not only look forward to the newness that the Incarnation brings about but also look back to God’s faithfulness to his covenant with Israel to whom Jesus belongs.

Let today’s gospel be an invitation from God for us to be thankful for all that has been.
